Once the offseason kicks off, the league conducts a live, five round, rookie draft using Skype.  It's the highlight of the SSL offseason.  Just before the start of the season, there is a two round Pre-Season Unemployment Draft where teams can add players that are discarded when other franchises cut their own roster down to 35 players.  In between the June and July Chapters, the SSL holds a one round Mid-Season Unemployment Draft.  During this draft, teams can add one player from the existing free agent pool.  After the World Series is complete, each franchise protects their twelve most valuable players.  The unprotected players are then subject to a one round Redistribution Draft.  During the RD, when a player is selected from a roster, that team's roster is frozen.  As a result, each team has the opportunity to gain one new player and lose one player.
